French Ambassador for the Indo-Pacific, France
Ambassador Marc Abensour has served as French Ambassador for the Indo-Pacific since October 2022. Prior to this assignment, he served as Ambassador of France to Singapore, a role for which he was nominated in 2016. Previously, he served in different senior roles at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defense. From 2012 to 2014, he was assigned to the General Secretariat of Defense and National Security as Director of International, Strategic and Technologic Affairs. From 2008 to 2012, he was the Deputy Permanent Representative of France to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels. He also spent tours at the Embassy in Washington and Beijing. He studied at the École Normale Supérieure in France and spent time at Harvard University in the United States as an exchange student. He holds the academic rank of “Agrégation” (Associate Professor) in Philosophy and has been received into the National Order of Merit with the rank of Knight.
